The MECA racking system for compact pallet racking (also known as Drive-In), is the solution for an ideal storage when there should be stored a huge amount of only one product, with the finality to optimize to the maximum the storage capacity using the minimum space. The storage capacity of the compact pallet racking system is superior to the conventional storage system.

The loading and unloading process is made through the conventional elevators, which the access is the interior of the racking streets. Although the direct access to each product is not possible, in terms of profitability, the compact racks play an important role in the actual modern warehouses.

It is usually used in sectors where the product to store is not perishable. Generally used for the storage of big quantities but with few references of product (beverages, preserves). When it is considered the compact storage system, the design of the supports is essential for the installation and is recommendable the use of guide rails for the protection and for a better orientation of the elevator trolleys.

The most common way of storing pallets in a Dirve-in system are with LIFO (Last In, First Out) system and FIFO(First In, First Out) system.
